For some reason, I totally forgot WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) was happening today. Normally, I’m watching the live text updates of Steve Jobs’ keynote, eagerly awaiting the latest Apple announcement. I think everyone pretty much expected it to be pretty anti-climactic. I mean, what could the guy say? “Yeah, we’ve got this new operating system coming out we announced a year ago, and it’s gonna be cool. Still will be October before you can buy it.” The iPhone is still three weeks away, so I think they were grasping for any straws they could find.
I’ve not watched the keynote online yet, but it seems like a ho-hummer. Just more Leopard info. Now don’t get me wrong, the new OSX Leopard looks wicked cool, but we’ve just been waiting for it forever.
One nice tidbit is the release of the public beta of Safari 3. I’m already running it, and it doesn’t seem much different on the surface. But the big news is that it’s actually available for PC now! I think it’s a good move for them to be making, and offers Windows users another good standards-compliant alternative. And any other Apple branding that can make its way to a PC is a good thing.
So for those of us that could care less about the iPhone, we’ve got quite a wait until October.
